Of course packaging is designed to urge us to buy. For Sale signs are not written in shocking imperious red by chance. The color is meant to communicate BUY! NOW!

Color, in fact, has very nuanced effects on purchasers’ habits. Different colors can be used to attract people with different sensitivities to price. Turns out navy blue and teal are particularly good to lure shoppers on a budget. Black, of course, is meant to nab upscale luxury buyers.
